Top Tips for Building Self-Esteem PDF Print E-mail

Try to accept yourself for who you are.  Do not compare yourself to others.  Doing so will only disappoint you, as you will never be anyone else but you.  Besides, you are not just anyone anyway; you are you and you are unique!
In fact, try not to compare at all.  Ban comparing!  From today, try really hard to find some value in being you for a while.

It might be that you like your sense of humour or that you are smart. Whatever it is, try to find something that you can appreciate about being you and every time you feel low about yourself or start comparing yourself to someone else, remember the quality you like so that you avoid concentrating on what you don’t.

You can also try to distract yourself from comparing yourself to others by playing a board game with a friend or family member, reading a book, talking to someone or playing some music that you like.  Whatever it is, if you start to teach yourself how to think about other things when you start to compare yourself to others, you will eventually be able to do so without the use of distractions.  Give it a go!   It can’t hurt can it?
