• Share problems • Phone a helpline (Adapt 028 38323 895) • Talk to your parents • Talk to someone you can trust, Friends, family, teacher etc • Join a self- help group, Adapt run their self- help group last Thursday of every month phone 028 38347 535 for further information • Develop support networks, your family can provide great support. • Recovery is learning how to deal with life’s problems in constructive ways without turning to food or starvation • Learn to be more self- aware, self- awareness is invaluable • Learn to believe in yourself • Live in the present, the here and now • Take care of your physical health • Learn to love yourself the way you are and for who you are • Be aware of stress if feeling stress maybe go for a nice walk, have a bath, joga, play nice music • Be aware of and build up your self- esteem • Praise yourself • If you have a set back don’t despair , you can learn a lot from it • Learn to be aware of negative thinking and change into positive thinking for example, “I have tried everything what’s the point” to “ I am going to beat my eating disorder recovery is possible” • Read self- help books • Educate yourself on the illness • Keep appointments with your therapists
