Recovering from an Eating Disorder PDF Print E-mail

Most people experiencing an eating disorder do recover, and learn to use more positive coping mechanisms. Recovery is a gradual unpredictable process, some people will make a full recovery and put the eating disorder behind them. Others could be in recovery for many years. It takes bravery to confront an eating disorder. However hard it may be, NEVER GIVE UP!!

An important part of recovery is for somebody to accept that it is not possible to have only good days, and to learn how to cope with the bad days. You need to accept that nobody is perfect.

The sooner you acknowledge you have an eating disorder, and have the courage to talk to someone and receive help the better chance of your successful recovery. Your first contact should be your GP, who is the “gatekeeper” to treatment. He will make the initial diagnosis and carry out all assessments and then refer you to the specialist eating disorder team in your local trust.

NEVER GIVE UP- THE SUN WILL SHINE AGAIN
