Increasing pressure from the media on young people has lead to poor body image and a rise in eating disorders among young people today. Magazines are littered with images of perfect models, celebrity beauty secrets and the newest diet secrets. With such pressures on young people to look perfect, it’s no surprise that the majority of teens are insecure with their bodies.
But these images aren’t portraying true images, with the use of hair extensions, fake eyelashes, make-up and airbrushing. In a recent article it was revealed that Madonna spends an astonishing £562,600 on beauty care and treatments to keep looking youthful. It’s also reported that Cheryl Cole spends £4,000 on hair extensions, £9,500 on her smile and over £100,000 on stylists and make-up artists.
With spending thousands on looking good, it’s no wonder that young people are under such pressure to look good. |
